Fortress Investment Group (“Fortress”) provides the following information relating to Section 44475 of Division 26, Part 10 of the California Health and Safety Code added by the Voluntary Carbon Market Disclosures Act (California Assembly Bill (AB) 1305).
Information Regarding Carbon Neutrality Claims (pursuant to AB 1305 Section 44475.2) Fortress achieved carbon neutrality for our 2022 Scope 1, Scope 2 and certain Scope 3 GHG emissions (business travel (3.6), employee commuting (3.7), and waste (3.5)) through carbon removal credits, carbon avoidance credits, and renewable energy certificates (RECs). In this regard, we worked with our third-party vendor, Watershed Technology, Inc. (“Watershed”) to measure our Scope 1, Scope 2, & Scope 3 GHG emissions by following guidelines from the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Accounting and Reporting Standard. Emissions methodology calculates emissions based on spend or usage depending on the activity type. Line-item business activity data, including data sets on employees, offices, and financial data, was mapped to appropriate emissions factors (EF). The study measured emissions in CO2e, or carbon dioxide equivalents, which includes all greenhouse gasses, such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O).We then worked with Watershed to design a portfolio of carbon removal, carbon avoidance, and REC projects to offset our Scope 1, 2 and certain Scope 3 GHG emissions for 2022. We did not attain independent third-party verification of our GHG emissions, and we have not set carbon reduction targets, including science-based targets.
Voluntary Carbon Offset Project Information (pursuant to AB 1305 Section 44475.1) All information regarding voluntary carbon offset projects was provided to us by our vendor, enterprise sustainability platform Watershed.
